GREER, S.C.— (October 15, 2022) – The Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District will conduct an emergency preparedness drill on Friday, October 7, 2022. The drill will start at 9:00 am and last approximately two hours. The drill is a readiness and coordination exercise that is mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The goal of this drill is to create a simulation of an aircraft incident that involves a significant emergency response. During the drill, emergency crews will practice various elements of response that would be required during an actual incident.

There may be smoke and multiple emergency vehicles visible during this exercise.  However, there will be no impact on normal operations at the airport and passengers should not expect their travel to be interrupted.

This is only a drill.

Update: The drill is now completed.
