Three Low-Fare Destinations for Your Next Vacation

This summer, Avelo Airlines is expanding your horizons for low-fare nonstop flights to three major cities: Orlando, FL (MCO), New Haven, CT (HVN), and Wilmington, DE (ILG). We want to share with you our favorite highlights for each destination. 

Orlando, Florida

Orlando, FL is the Sunshine State’s capital of entertainment.  The city is bustling with all kinds of activities and attractions for people of all ages. The perfect place for a magical weekend! Orlando is home to some of the most popular amusement parks in the country: Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld ®, and LEGOLAND. Each park offers its own immersive experience of fun—with plenty of activities to fill your day. They also offer their own themed hotels, and their exciting water parks operate in the warmer months.

    Orlando also has a rich appreciation for art, science, and history. From several art museums to hands-on science exhibits, the city has plenty to teach to its visitors in an engaging way.

      New Haven, Connecticut

      The city’s breathtaking beaches are a striking scene any time of year. In the warmer seasons, visitors can try out swimming, biking, jogging, and fishing along the shore. 

      New Haven is ranked as one of the most walkable cities in America, making it the perfect place to explore. Yale University’s free campus tour is a great way to take in the city’s rich history and charming architecture. If a tour on wheels is more your speed, enjoy the freedom of a self-guided exploration on rented bikes. There are also ghost, restaurant, and fitness tours available.

      The New Haven area is home to two waterfront state parks: Hammonasset Beach State Park and Silver Sands Beach State Park. The city also holds beautiful greenspaces, including East Rock Park and Edgerton Park. New England dawns beautiful warm colors in the Fall, making it an ideal Autumn trip.  

      Among its diverse culinary options, New Haven is most known for its world-renowned pizzerias; The New Haven-Style pizza has been a cultural classic in the city for over a century. There are also popular taco and sushi restaurants in the area, as well as lively bars.

      Wilmington, Delaware

      Named one of the best places to go in the U.S. in 2023 by Con Nast Traveler, Wilmington is a unique city in the Brandywine Valley, known for its picturesque trails, history, and architecture 

      Wilmington is home to many historical sites, mansions, museums, and galleries. The famous Nemours Estate is North America’s largest formal French gardens. On a tour, visitors can explore the 77-room mansion, the chauffer’s garage of vintage automobiles, and acres upon acres of scenic woodlands, meadows, and lawns. For more beautiful historic spots, there is the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library and the Delaware Art Museum.   

      The Brandywine valley has a plethora of lavish gardens to walk through. The area is also popular for biking through state parks, such as the White Clay Creek State Park and Brandywine Park. The Wilmington Riverwalk offers kayaking, paddleboarding, and riverside paths for a relaxing stroll. There are also guided nature programs, fishing, and moonlight hikes.  

      In this popular outdoorsy city, Wilmington knows how to feed their people. From their Delaware-classic fried chicken to BBQ and burgers, the city serves up many savory dishes. The Brandywine valley also has nationally recognized breweries and wineries.
