GREER, S.C.— The Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District (GSP) police department has earned accreditation through the state’s official accrediting body, South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation (SCLEA). Representatives of the GSP police department received their award at the SCLEA Council’s annual meeting in Columbia, SC.
The GSP police department serves the GSP International Airport and surrounding property. The SCLEA Program is a voluntary initiative which demonstrates a commitment to the highest professional standards of law enforcement.
In December 2020, the department received their sixth Advanced Accreditation Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the national certifying body. By earning dual CALEA and SCLEA certification, the department ensures adherence to state-specific as well as national standards.
The department will pursue SCLEA re-accreditation every three years, however ensuring compliance with all polices and procedures is an on-going, department-wide effort.
“The safety of our passengers is the top priority of the District,” said GSP President and CEO Dave Edwards. “I commend our police department for their commitment to the highest levels of professionalism and service to the community.”
