Airport Commission
The Commission is composed of six members who are appointed by the Governor. Three of the members must be residents of Spartanburg County and each must receive the recommendation of the majority of the Spartanburg County Legislative Delegation. Three of the members must be residents of Greenville County and each must receive the recommendation of the majority of the Greenville County Legislative Delegation. Members of the Commission serve a six-year term and can be reappointed.
Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Commission meetings are held at the Airport District Offices located at the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. Meetings are at 9 a.m. on the following dates:
January 22, 2024 | March 4, 2024 | May 13, 2024 | July 8, 2024 | September 16, 2024 | November 18, 2024
An agenda will be posted 24 hours prior to the regularly scheduled Airport Commission Meeting.

Minor Shaw,
Chairperson
Minor Mickel Shaw is the President of Micco, LLC. She serves on the Board of Directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC, Piedmont Natural Gas and the Columbia Mutual Fund group. She is Chairman of The Duke Endowment and is a trustee of the Hollingsworth Funds and The Daniel-Mickel Foundation. She also serves as a board member for other foundations and organizations. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has served on the Commission since 1994.
Leland Burch
Leland E. Burch is a lifelong resident of Greer and a graduate of Wofford College with a Bachelors degree in political science. Burch was a career journalist who served as editor of The Greer Citizen newspaper for 20 years. Since retiring, Burch has published two books of his "Off the Record" newspaper columns. He has served on the Commission since 1985.
Valerie Miller
Valerie J.S. Miller is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Miller and her family owned and operated multiple state franchises of Budget Rent-A-Car offices, including four in Upstate South Carolina. She is currently a real estate executive at The Marchant Company. She has been a resident of Greenville County for 38 years and has served on the Commission since 1998.

Jay Beeson
Jay Beeson graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, licensed General Contractor and licensed Real Estate Agent. He is a principal of Mark III Properties, a residential subdivision development company based in Spartanburg. He has served on the Commission since 2019.
Doug Smith
Doug Smith is a graduate of Wofford College. He was elected to the SC House of Representatives from 1992-2008 and was the Speaker Pro Tempore of the House of Representatives from 2000-2008. Currently, Smith serves as a Partner at Johnson, Smith, Hibbard & Wildman Law Firm, LLP. He has served on the Commission since 2011.
