Before You Fly

How early should I arrive at the airport before departure?

The airlines recommend that passengers arrive two hours prior to departure.

What identification do I need to fly?

Adult passengers 18 and over must show valid identification at the airport checkpoint in order to travel. 

  • Driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) 

  • U.S. passport 

  • U.S. passport card 

  • DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST) 

  • U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents 

  • Permanent resident card 

  • Border crossing card 

  • State-issued Enhanced Driver’s License 

  • Federally recognized, tribal-issued photo ID 

  • HSPD-12 PIV card 

  • Foreign government-issued passport

  • Canadian provincial driver's license or Indian and Northern Affairs Cananda card

  • Transportation worker identification credential 

  • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766) 

  • U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential 

Beginning October 1, 2021, state-issued identification is required to be REAL ID compliant.  

TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling within the United States. Contact the airline for questions regarding specific ID requirements for travelers under 18. 

What is the policy for traveling with pets?

Per Airport District policy, all animals, including pets and emotional support animals, must be in a crate or carrier while in the terminal building. The exception to the policy is service animals. Please contact your airline and connecting/destination airport for its pet policies.  

Can I purchase tickets at the airport?

Tickets on Allegiant, American, Delta, and Southwest can be purchased at the airport.  Allegiant only sells tickets on the days and times they are operating. The airline sells tickets for one hour after each departure. 

How should I dress to travel on-board an aircraft?

Comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes are the preferred options. Please avoid clothing, shoes or jewelry containing excessive metal.

General Information

How early does the airport open?

The airport is open 24 hours a day. 

The operating hours of the airline ticket counters vary by carrier. As a general rule, the ticket counter opens two hours prior to the airline’s first flight.  Please check with your airline for its policy regarding cutoff times for check in.  

The TSA security checkpoint opens at 3:50 a.m. The checkpoint closing time varies from day-to-day based on the last departing flight. Travelers are encouraged to arrive two hours prior to departure time.  

Restaurants and retail stores open at 4 a.m. and close after the last flight departs.

How can I check the status of my flight?

Call the Customer Service number of the airline on which you are traveling.

Lost Items

I lost or left a personal item on-board the aircraft?

Please call the Customer Service number of the airline on which you were traveling. 

I lost something inside the airport or in an airport parking area, which number should I call?

Please call the Information Center at 864.877.7426 between the hours of 7 a.m. and midnight.
 

Luggage

My luggage is lost or damage. How do I get more information?

The airlines are responsible for lost or damaged baggage. Airline baggage claim contact information is available here.  

How can I get a list of items that are approved for carry-on and checked baggage?

Visit the TSA website at www.tsa.gov and click on travel tips.

How many bags can I take with me?

Passengers should check with the airline to find out the checked baggage and carry-on limit.  Additional fees and other restrictions may apply depending upon the airline. Please call the Customer Service number of the airline on which you are traveling to ensure you have the latest information concerning passenger baggage.

Parking

Where is parking available?

Parking is available in five different locations. The Economy Lots A & B are located on GSP Drive. Garages A and B are located to the right and left of the terminal building as you approach. The Daily Parking Lot is located adjacent to Garage B

Curbside Valet Parking is available on a daily basis and opens 90 minutes before the first scheduled departure and closes one hour after the last arrival.

Where should I park if I am just picking up a passenger?

GSP offers a free parking in the Cell Phone Lot for drivers waiting to pick up passengers. Drivers must remain in the vehicle while waiting in this area.

For visitors planning a short stay at the airport, parking is available for $1 every half hour in Garages A or B and the Daily Parking Lot. 

Ground Transportation

Where can I get a rental car?

Five rental car agencies are located onsite at GSP. All onsite rental car offices on the first and second floors of Garage A which is located across from baggage claim. Visit GSP’s ground transportation page for a list of agencies and contact information.  

Where is the pick-up location for Uber, Lyft, taxis and/or shuttles?

The designated pick-up area for ridesharing services, such as Uber and Lyft and parking and hotel shuttles is located on the center island of the front pickup/drop-off lanes.
