Dave Edwards named Airports Council International – North America Chairman

GSP International Airport President and CEO Dave Edwards has been named 2013 Chairman of Airports Council International – North America. The Chairman’s Gavel was tossed at the Chairman’s Honors Luncheon during the 2012 ACI-NA/ACI World Annual Conference and Exhibition in Calgary, Alberta.
During the luncheon on Wednesday Edwards eloquently outlined his goals for the upcoming year. In addition to continuing ACI-NA’s work with various government regulators and industry partners, Edwards shared that he plans to lead the ACI-NA Board of Directors in an effort to develop a 5-year strategic plan to help guide the organization.

Edwards has over twenty years’ experience in airport management with expertise in the areas of business development, properties, governmental affairs, operations, and international marketing. Immediately prior to relocating to Greenville-Spartanburg, Edwards served as the Airport Director of the Asheville Regional Airport Authority. Under his leadership the Airport Authority successfully implemented and/or completed over $60 million in capital improvements, improved air service, including securing the airport’s first low fare carrier.
Since joining GSP International in July 2009, Edwards has help guide the Airport District to successfully securing the number one low fare carrier in the country Southwest Airlines. Responsible for the overall administration of the airport, Edwards has been instrumental in revamping a number of administrative policies and procedures, and overseeing the GSP International Airport’s terminal renovation program, WINGSPAN, to support the long-term commercial aviation and economic development needs of Upstate SC.
ACI-NA is an international trade association representing more than 400 airports in the United States and Canada. Its mission is to advocate policies and provide services that strengthen the ability of air carrier airports to serve their passengers, customers and communities.
